The truth is: all dog food (even natural and fresh) needs some level of supplementation to ensure it provides complete and balanced nutrition.
At Fur Real Meal, we believe in feeding dogs the way nature intended: with real, fresh, whole ingredients. But even with the highest quality meats, vegetables, and oils, some essential nutrients can still be missing or not present in the right amounts.
That’s why we include carefully selected supplements in our recipes, to ensure your dog gets complete and balanced nutrition in every bite.
Here’s why they’re important:
Nutritional Balance: Fresh food alone may not meet all of a dog’s daily needs, especially for key vitamins and minerals like calcium, zinc, vitamin D, and iodine.
Cooking Losses: Even gentle cooking can reduce the levels of certain nutrients, which we safely replenish through supplements.
Consistency: Supplements help us ensure every meal meets AAFCO nutritional standards for all life stages.
In short, our supplements don’t replace fresh food, they complete it. Think of them as the finishing touch that makes every meal truly nourishing and safe for your dog’s long-term health.
Our products are recommended for all stages of a dog's life, as long as they have already been weaned or are not too impaired due to advanced age
The benefits are many and can be perceived in various ways. The benefits range from lower glycemic levels and protection of the urinary and digestive systems to reduced stool volume and odor. Want to know the full list of benefits? Look here!
Switching your dog to a fresh, natural diet should be done gradually. If your pet isn’t used to this type of food, their digestive system may need time to adjust. Here's our recommended transition plan:
Week 1: 75% kibble + 25% Fur Real Meal
Week 2: 50% kibble + 50% Fur Real Meal
Week 3: 25% kibble + 75% Fur Real Meal
Week 4: Gradually increase the amount of Fur Real Meal each day until you reach 100%.
And voilà! After four weeks, the transition is complete and your pup is officially a Fur Real Dog! 🐾
Due to their lack of familiarity with natural food, some dogs may show some transition-related symptoms. The puppy may have a bad odor, mucus in the stool, secretion in the eyes, dirty ears and intense hair loss. These are not serious symptoms and should not last longer than ten days. If symptoms persist, consult your pet's veterinarian.
Although it is possible, it is not recommended, because there is a great likelihood that you won't be giving your pet a balanced diet that contains all the nutrients it needs.
The risk of unbalancing the amount of vitamins and minerals your pet needs is very high in these situations, which can lead to or worsen health problems. Therefore, we strongly advise against supplementing Fur Real Meal with kibble.
In the freezer, unopened, your pack lasts up to six months. In the fridge, after defrosting, the food can be served to your pet for up to four days.
Our recipes are formulated in collaboration with zootechnicians and veterinarians, always taking into consideration the nutritional balance that your dog needs, including all the experience and knowledge of a food engineer, thus guaranteeing a fresh and safe product.
